"Lust’s passion will be served; it demands, it militates, it tyrannizes" (Marquis de Sade)

We are sexual beings and passion is good when kept within the context of its intended design. Sexual gratification is a gift of the flesh that God sanctified and gave to humanity. But because of its great potential for destruction the only safe place for sex is in a marriage relationship between a man and a woman. Sex has enough combustive force to incinerate conscience, vows, family commitments, religious devotion and anything else in its path (Philip Yancey). Many lives and homes have been destroyed because of the inappropriate use of this endowment.

Alicia Barnhart said, “True love never dies; it is lust that fades away. Love bonds for a lifetime but lust just pushes away.” Lust is simply a natural desire—a normal longing that has gotten out of control. The Bible says in 2 Timothy 2:22, “Flee youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace….” If you do not control your passions—your passions will control you. Kahlil Gibran describes lust, “The lust for comfort, that stealthy thing that enters the house as a guest then becomes a host, and then a master.” Sexual addiction is a big problem today. Hollywood may glamorize adultery onscreen, but in real life it provokes pain and a rage sometimes strong enough to drive the wounded party to murder the rival or jump off a bridge (Philip Yancy).

Sex is an act of the mind as much as it is an act of the body. Jesus said in ...Matthew 5:28 " But I tell you that if anyone looks at a woman and wants to sin sexually with her, in his mind he has already done that sin with the woman." (New Century Version)....Pornography is now considered by many experts to be as addictive as drugs, and like other addictions it leads to a need for escalated “doses” and intensity. Society drives people crazy with lust and calls it advertising (John Lahr). Herbert W. Case, a former Detroit Michigan detective makes an alarming statement, “There has not been a sex murder in the history of our department in which the killer was not an avid reader of lewd magazines.” We don’t have to live in bondage or become a servant to our passions.
The Bible says in Romans 12:2, "Do not be shaped by this world; instead be changed within by a new way of thinking. Then you will be able to decide what God wants for you; you will know what is good and pleasing to him and what is perfect.".... Sex is a good thing so don’t allow it to become something bad. We would do well to remember the old French proverb which says, “It is easier to abstain than to restrain.”

"Hell has three gates: lust, anger and greed "(Bhagavad Gita).
